Nominations open for the second Yukon Sustainability Awards

The Government of Yukon and the Environmental Careers Organization (ECO) Canada are excited to announce that nominations are now open for the second Yukon Sustainability Awards. These awards celebrate Yukoners’ commitment to sustainability and recognize businesses that are leading the charge toward a greener economy with a focus on Indigenous reconciliation and collaboration.

Following the successful inaugural event in February 2024, which saw a significant turnout and enthusiastic participation, the Yukon Sustainability Awards have established themselves as a notable channel for promoting sustainable business practices within the territory.

The deadline for nominations this year is December 15, 2024.

Businesses of all sizes (and from any sector) are encouraged to submit an application showcasing their sustainable practices and contributions to the environment, community and economy. The awards are divided into three categories.

  • Yukon Small Business Sustainability Award: For organizations with up to 10 full-time employees (including owners and partners), of which any number are conducting activities within the Yukon.
  • Yukon Medium to Large Business Sustainability Award: For organizations with 11 or more full-time employees, of which any number are conducting activities within the Yukon.
  • Yukon Regional Business Sustainability Award: Open to organizations of any size that are headquartered in the Yukon with activities based in communities outside of Whitehorse.

More information about the nomination process and submitting an application is at ecoimpact.ca/awards.

These awards recognize Yukon businesses that are leading the way in sustainability and building a greener economy. We are proud to partner with the Environmental Careers Organization to highlight local role models and responsible leaders who are driving our economy forward. These businesses exemplify the principles of Our Clean Future, the Yukon’s strategy for climate change, energy and a green economy. I look forward to celebrating our business community and their contributions to our strong, sustainable territory.

Premier and Minister of Economic Development Ranj Pillai
