Electoral District Boundaries Act (2024) receives assent in the Yukon Legislative Assembly

Today, The Yukon Legislative Assembly passed the Electoral District Boundaries Act (2024). The Act contains the recommendations from the Electoral District Boundaries Commission, which includes:

  • increasing the number of electoral districts in the Yukon from 19 to 21;
  • dividing Whistle Bend into two different ridings;
  • merging Golden Horn with Mount Lorne and Marsh Lake;
  • merging Teslin with the Southern Lakes; and
  • combining Watson Lake, Ross River and Faro.

These changes ensure the voices of Yukoners are heard and their interests are represented as the Yukon’s population expands and shifts.

Yukon’s electoral boundaries have remained unchanged since 2008, and as our population grows, these updates are both timely and essential. The new ridings will strengthen representation in the Yukon Legislative Assembly, ensuring diverse perspectives are better reflected in our decision-making processes.
